It is fitting that we are looking at “True Greatness and Little Children” on Mother’s Day. I hope we are all aware that many women find Mother’s Day challenging for a number of reasons. But the teaching of Jesus here is significant for all Christians. Not just for mothers. It has to do with true Christian values. Jesus sees our care for children as part of a larger issue: how we value people and what we value in people. Jesus said as the Father sent me so I send you. What Jesus teaches here is that the care of children is part of the Christian mission; therefore if we follow Jesus we should care for children.
