Nicaragua Missions
Pictured here are the seven people from Christ Community who made up our Nicaragua missions team: left to right is Cheryl Diorio, Jessica & John Gardella, Cheryl Geno, Corey Sawchuk, and Andrea Sawchuk. They joined 27 other team members from Arizona and Washington state. Here are some of the highlights of their trip.
- Helped 3 medical clinics that saw over 1600 people and gave 4701 prescriptions. (We sent home anti-parasite medicine for the whole family) One clinic was at a coffee plantation called selva negra - we saw 300 of the workers there.
- There was a lot of rain and mud this trip which is unusual but John Gardella was the "king of the road" and always could get the missionaries from the mission compound, through the mud- down to the town where our bus waitied for us.
- Food was good - showers were cold - everyone got along great.
- Corey Sawchuk was a youth leader - there were 8 teenagers that he and his friend worked with. They had their own bible study every night and had outings and adventures - they met with a local church youth group several times.
- Worship was really good.
- Helped 2 shoe clinics by donating 200 pairs of shoes that were purchased by Christ Community's generosity.
Check out this photo album for pictures from their trip.
